1. Who we are

2. In short
We do not want your personal data and we do not go looking for it. Our apps do not need to know who you are, and we do not follow you between apps, sites or devices.
We do measure how our software is used. Those measurements carry an installation identifier — a random value an app creates the first time it runs — which lets us tell one installation apart from another. That makes it pseudonymous data: it cannot tell us who you are, but it is still data about you.
A few things need another company: taking your payment, sending an email you asked for, storing the measurements. Section 4 names them. We keep that list as short as we can, and we do not sell anything to anyone.
3. Measuring how our apps are used
What we record. Which features are used and how often, how long a session lasts, app and operating system version, device type, and the country a request came from. Never the contents of your files, and never what you type.
The installation identifier. An app creates a random identifier the first time it runs and stores it on your device. It travels with each measurement so we can tell one installation apart from another. It is not derived from any hardware identifier, is not shared between our apps, and is never joined to your name, your email address or your purchase.
Why we do it. To see how our software is used, find faults, and decide what to build next. We rely on our legitimate interest in doing so. You can object at any time by turning the measurement off, which every app that measures usage lets you do.
How long we keep it. Three full calendar months, then deleted — up to about four months after a measurement was made. What remains is aggregate counts, which carry no identifier.
4. The companies we rely on
Each of these acts for us, and only for the one purpose named.
- Selling and billing — the app store or reseller you buy from. They handle your payment and billing data under their own privacy policy; we never receive your card or bank details.
- Storing measurements — a managed database service, on servers in the European Union.
- Sending email you asked for — an email delivery service, on servers in the European Union.
Some apps also use another company for a particular feature, such as translating text. Where an app does that, the app tells you.
Where one of them is outside Europe, the transfer is covered by the safeguards the law requires.
5. Newsletter and product waitlists
If you enter your email address in a signup form on our site, we store the address, a note of which form you used, and the dates you asked and confirmed.
You can unsubscribe from any email we send, or write to privacy@leanbytes.io. Afterwards we keep only a record that you subscribed and unsubscribed, for as long as we need it to show the subscription was lawful. We do not sell your address and we use it only for what you signed up to receive.
6. Our websites
Our sites count page views and a few events such as downloads. The software is self-hosted by us, in Europe. It sets no cookies, does not store IP addresses, and does not follow visitors between sites.
7. Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, receive a copy, and withdraw any consent you have given. Write to privacy@leanbytes.io.
One practical point about measurements. We cannot connect an installation identifier to a person, so we cannot find your data from your name or your email address. Where an app shows you its identifier, send it to us and we can act on it.
8. Complaints

9. Changes, and how to reach us
We update this notice when what we do changes. The date at the top says when this version took effect.
